RANT: People who don’t pay when they’re supposed to pay – when you’ve done what you were supposed to do to get paid when you’re supposed to get paid! Over it. I’m past annoyed. Come on, why you wanna tempt karma like that? Call Jillian and Bob…. I’ve found the biggest loser.

Staples is Offering Up the Savings

by Joi on February 28, 2009

Staples Vertical File Cabinet

We’re all looking for ways to save money, cut corners, and stretch our dollar – all without compromising our standard of living (or at least as little compromising as possible!).  The experts tell us time and time again to watch for sales.  They say to buy what we need when it’s at the best possible price.

Sounds logical, no?

That’s why I always watch the circulars and my favorite stores’ websites.  This way I can know immediately when they want to make me a deal I can’t refuse.

Staples wants to play the savings game beautifully this week and are offering up great deals on all things tech.

Their 40 Tech Deals under $100 Event and Big Printing Event are loaded with everything you’re looking for – short of a Caramel Latte topped off with caramel and a fat dollop of whipped topping and a fat chocolaty Walnut Brownie. Someone woke up with her sweet tooth locked and loaded.

The deals aren’t just tech-ish, though.

You’ll find lots of savings on standard office supplies, office furniture, and office equipment. For example, the 2-Drawer 25 inch Staples Vertical File Cabinet pictured here is on sale, for a savings of $10.

That $10 could buy a Caramel Latte and 2 Walnut Brownies. I apologize. I’m out of control. (I’m also headed to the kitchen. he he he)

This Week Only:
40 Tech Deals under $100 at Staples®! Save on hard drives, printers, memory cards, mice and more. Ends 3/7.

One Day Only:
ONE DAY ONLY – Up to 50% OFF select Lexmark printers at Staples®. Offers valid 3/4 only. Shop now!

Royal KS7 7-sheet Cross-cut Shredder
I thought this was beyond interesting. One of my favorite companies, Staples, conducted a survey recently that led to the following revelations:

  • 47 percent of respondents felt their stress level diminish after the simple act of shredding.
  • 85 percent of the people felt smarter.
  • 83 percent felt more organized.
  • 80 percent felt more in control of their lives.
  • 92 percent felt safer after shredding.
  • 42 percent felt calmer.
  • 86 percent loved the fact that shredding allowed them to rid themselves of clutter.
  • Nearly half of the participants said that shredding helped them maintain a balanced life.

Maybe we’re onto something here!  Could the innocent-looking Royal KS7 7-sheet Cross-cut Shredder pictured above could put therapists and spa owners out of work?

“Staples’ consumer survey confirms what we have found in our research,” said Consumer Psychologist Richard Feinberg of Purdue University. “Consumers use products like a shredder for utilitarian purposes but then these products have very significant and positive emotional and psychological impacts. These psychological impacts may not even be known by the consumer, but they can unconsciously improve their life. In a world where people are time deprived, increasingly stressed, and feeling more and more out of control, shredding may provide positive psychological fuel.”

I wonder if the feelings of euphoria that come with paper shredding are similar to the joy ride my cat gets when she shreds the daylights out of her scratching post. In all seriousness, there must be something therapeutic about it.

I don’t know if it’s therapeutic or not, but I challenge you to say this post’s title 4 times fast. Just be sure no one else is around – it won’t be your finest hour.

Staples Weekly Deals

I smell the skeptism on your breath. I know, I know – Dollar Days usually mean bins of cheap pens, rubber bands, erasers, and notebooks so tiny Smurfette could nap on them.

But Staples is stepping things up in a big way. Check out the following items that are just $1 this week.*

  • Writing pads, perforated, letter size, wide-ruled, 3/pack, it’d take a Smurf Village to fill these up
  • 4/Pack Dry-Erase Markers
  • 4/Pack Sharpie Permanent Markers
  • 6/Pack Highlighters
  • Medium Binder Clips (24/Pack)
  • Gold Paper Clips (100/Pack)
  • Quartet 8-1/2″ by 11″ Magnetic Dry Erase Board

In addition to the Dollar Days specials, there are a lot of office supplies that qualify for “Buy One, Get One Free.”  There are binders, notebooks, filler paper, plastic storage boxes (great for storing Christmas decorations, cans for recycling, etc.), photo paper, etc.

Finally, Staples is getting ridiculously generous with their chairs.  There are savings upwards of $50.   Click the button below to research their various brands and see which are marked down the most.  I noticed that the Sealy Semia Leather Executive Chair was marked down $70 this week.

Staples. That was easy.

* While supplies last and limit 2 per customer.

Staples Logo One of my favorite places on earth, Staples, is having a really sweet Technology event right now. It’s the Tech Trade In Event and the deals are truly amazing… and just in time for the holidays.

You can get $30 back in Staples rewards when you recyle your old tech products and buy a new one in store OR online from a participating brand in the same category.

Out with the old, in with the new. That was easy.

Click through the link or image above to learn more. Again, easy.

P.S. I love Staples more than you do.

Oh no they di’nt. My much beloved Staples has dedicated space in their stores for those little wonders that set a true Office Freak’s heart aflutter. Of course I’m talking about Post It products!

They’ve made some in-store enhancements that include 3M “Post-it Shops.”

Another cool move they’ve made is this: Staples new “Mix it Up” merchandising setup allows customers to buy office products in bulk easily and according to their highly personal preferences (candy store concept) rather than buying entire boxes of supplies. Plastic tubs are sold for a preset dollar amount, and customers can load them up with paper clips, binder clips, push pins, etc.

Now that is easy.

HON® 94000 Series Laminate Office Furniture When it comes to office furniture, I think we can all agree that we’re looking for three main things: (1) We want to get what we pay for. (2) We want the furniture to be practical – to make our work lives easier and more productive. (3) We want it to look good.

Mahogany woodgrain laminate make the HON® 94000 Series Office Furniture
at Staples as practical as it is beautiful – and, yes, we most definitely get what we pay for.

Take the beautiful 66″ Left-Pedestal Desk, above. The L shape would help open up your office and make it feel oh so handsome in the process.

The HON® 94000 Series desks offer a classic, traditional style with distinctive plinth bases, decorative moldings and antique brass-plated hardware.

Equally beautiful is the Mahogany Stack-On Storage Unit (below) – also from the HON® 94000 Series Laminate Office FurnitureCollection.

Click any of the links or images in this post to see the entire collection at Staples.com. This furniture would make the most impressive and functional office imaginable. That, and you’d be the envy of everyone you know.

Sauder Roanoke Computer Desk, Classic Cherry Finish

Here’s one of the gorgeous Student Desks I was referring to in the last post. It’s the Sauder Roanoke Computer Desk, Classic Cherry Finish and would make any student take their work more seriously. Think how proud they’d be to show this desk off!

If you order before October 4, you can save $40 on this beauty. You can still purchase it AFTER the 4th, of course, it’ll just cost you 8 trips to Starbucks, that’s all. Or, as non-Starbucks addicts would say, it’ll just cost you $40 more.

Staples Furniture Sale - Online Only!

There’s only a week left in the Staples sale on Office Furniture. But, for us that’s plenty of time, right? We’re on top of this! Below are some of my personal favorite finds, along with how much money we can save, IF we act before October 4th.

Office Star™ Brown Leather Executive Chair with Cocoa Finish

Office Star™ Brown Leather Executive Chair with Cocoa Finish (Save $50!)

Features:
Brown leather with cocoa coated frame
Leather padded loop arms
Built-in lumbar support

The last gorgeous chair (brown leather, cocoa finish – yeah, that one) comes in black, ivory, and this particular color (cocoa). The cocoa’s my favorite because, come on, how can you go wrong with something that looks like chocolate AND coffee? The cocoa one also happens to cost the least – until October 4, it’s just under $100! The gorgeous ivory chair is another one I love – it’s only $149 for one more week (also a savings of $50!). Hmmmm, we have two computer work stations in our home office, an ebony chair and an ivory one would make a hot black/white theme, wouldn’t they? It’d actually be pretty hot because I have our home office decorated with black and white pictures of James Dean, Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, etc.

Eh. I’m sticking with cocoa. What can I say, it’s love. I’ll redecorate. I’ll grab two cocoa chairs and re-do the room with a coffee house theme. Yeah, baby, that’s what I’m talking about.

Obviously, these are just a few of the chairs (guess what I’m currently shopping around for) at Staples.com. You can also save BIG on desks, work centers, file cabinets, shelves, collections, computer carts (like the beautiful Sauder Heritage Hill Computer Cart, Cherry Finish
), wall decor, etc.

If you’re ever going to heed the words of this particular Office Freak, do it this week. The savings are mad. This is THE time to give your office the look and feel you want it to have. After all, think how much time we spend in our offices, whether they’re in our home or not. We should provide ourselves with an environment that inspires, motivates, and comforts us.

Cocoa chairs, start rolling my way! That was easy.

Furniture Showroom Savings

EDIT: I just happened to think (after walking past a daughter sprawled on the floor doing homework), now would be an ideal time to grab super fantastic, functional, and long-lasting Christmas gifts for the students in your life. Whether they’re in grade school, high school, or college – having their own professional-looking desk, work station, computer cart, and chair would serve to motivate them as much as our beloved office furniture motivates us.

Sandusky Wall Mount Laptop Security Cabinet
The Sandusky Wall Mount Laptop Security Cabinet
from Staples is just what you need to keep your laptop safe and secure. This small, yet fiercely strong, wall cabinet stores away laptop computers when they aren’t in use to prevent theft while allowing for stand-up workstation use.

Features:

  • Charcoal finish 20 gauge welded steel construction
  • Electric keypad lock eliminates need for keys
  • Cabinet dimensions: 15 3/4″H x 19 3/4″W x 4 3/4″D
  • Computer platform measures 16 2/3′W x 12 1/4″D and is cushioned to protect laptops
  • Cabinet includes two 1 1/2″ diameter cable management openings large enough for a power cord to allow for charging when the laptop is secured
  • Cabinet’s interior measures 3″D when closed
  • Electronic coded lock uses 4 AA batteries and features a programmable administrative and user password
  • Platform straps keep laptop securely in place when closed
  • Keypad has two emergency back-up options: An included external power source that plugs into the keypad and a key if the code is forgotten

Extra security measures just make a lot of sense. People are getting ridiculously desperate (and bold) with the economy the way it is. Hopefully it’ll swing the other way when things change, but until then, let’s keep our stuff tucked away safe and sound.
