I’ve found a perfect companion for my Must Have Nelson Marshmallow Sofa (See the last post!) – It’s the Nelson Coconut Chair
. Same distributor. Same designer. Same reaction.
When it comes to furniture (and handbags, dishes, artwork, clothes…), I’m wild about the unexpected. Who in their right mind would want to be surrounded by boring when they can be surrounded by bold?
This gorgeous coconut chair… I even love the name… would be a delicious addition for any modern office. This beauty was originally introduced by Herman Miller in 1955. In a shout out to retro design, it’s available again after a 23-year hiatus. This 20th century furniture icon has a simple, striking shape, and it’s also a very comfortable place to unwind at home or in a private office or lounge.

I am officially in the market for a laptop computer desk. I want one with wheels, so it can keep up with me as I motor from one room to the next.
When I’m not at my PC, my laptop and I like to make the rounds. We’ll set up our workstation at the kitchen table in the morning, because big windows, in the front of the room, allow for an excellent morning view of birds. I feed them first thing, then watch them jockey for position as they campaign for the largest seeds (the male cardinal is the most tenacious eater since the male human). I wouldn’t get in either’s way.
However, in the evening, I’d love for my laptop to join me for my favorite television shows – The Biggest Loser, Fringe, LOST (Finally back tomorrow night – yesss!). You know how it is.
I really like the Adjustable Ergonomic Laptop Computer Cart Desk
, pictured at the top of the post. It’s available on Overstock.com for under $80 (although this is a special price that doesn’t intend to stick around).
Product Description:
- Simplify your home office with this mobile laptop caddy.
- Laptop cart desk constructed of MDF with powder-coated steel.
- Adjustable laptop cart desk is a great addition to any room setting.
They’re available in Mahogany, Espresso, Woodgrain, and Graphite.

There’s a fine balance between running a HOME office and a home OFFICE. One side of my brain wants our home office to have nothing on its mind but business. I don’t want anything getting in the way of work glorious work. The other part of my brain (the fancier part) wants everything to be “pretty” and “homey.”
So I try to fill our home office with good looking, yet functional, items. The fancy pants side of my brain usually wins out, so I generally shop around for less-stuffy looking accessories and necessities.
When it comes to file holders, appliances, gadgets, and such, I usually stick with the color black. It looks so classy… so cool. It also goes with any other color scheme you throw its way. Also, unlike white accessories, which I used to be hooked on, they don’t show dings as badly.
That’s why I’ve fallen hard for these organizers from Rose Lane Cottage. They’re great-looking and functional. Rose Lane Cottage has a lot of gorgeous things for the home office (or a laid back “home away from home” office). There are lovely wall hangings for the office, folders, files, accessories, binders, clocks, notebooks, etc.
The Black Wire Letter Trays (Set of 2) and the Black ETC Wire File Folder Holders are also available in white. They’re so stylish and gorgeous, and would be the perfect place to “catch” all of the loose papers, envelopes, and, well… whatever this stuff is on my desk.
Rose Lane Cottage is a really fun website to browse, you’ll find so many things that’ll strike your fancy. And a fancy just isn’t worth having until it’s been struck.

If you’re anything like me, you’re sitting at your computer desk in pink pajamas nursing your third cup of coffee while Alexa (your youngest, fattest cat) sleeps in front of you, apparently dreaming of running to one of her suppers.
Okay, so maybe you aren’t just like me. Not everyone can make pink pajamas work, after all. But if you’re reading this blog’s posts, I’m pretty sure you have one thing in common with me: We buy office supplies as though we may never be able to again.
Now, generally, that’s a great thing. But when it comes to finding a place to put everything.. or, Heaven forbid we try to organize anything… then, we question our fetish.
Thanks be to God that people make organizers such as the CART HOMEOFFICE 2BIN BK
. We get to keep our stuff, and then we actually get to find it!
We actually need one of these in our own home office. I went to organize one of our shelves yesterday and couldn’t find it. I suppose it’s there – underneath the mountain of things I couldn’t live without, but I dunno.
The great thing about the CART HOMEOFFICE 2BIN BK
is that you can see the contents. If you put books in it, you can look through and see the titles.
I really like crates like this for books. I write a lot of book reviews for my blogs, and I like to keep the books that are “pending” book reviews all in one place. This would get them the heck off of my desk and make more room for Alexa. She could… um…. use more room.
Click through the one of the links to take a closer look, as well as to browse around at all of the other organizers. I’m all about organizers lately. I’ve found that they make your life so much easier and tidier. Best of all —- now, lean in close so you don’t miss this part —- you get to buy more stuff!!

When it comes to office furniture, I think we can all agree that we’re looking for three main things: (1) We want to get what we pay for. (2) We want the furniture to be practical – to make our work lives easier and more productive. (3) We want it to look good.
Mahogany woodgrain laminate make the HON® 94000 Series Office Furniture
at Staples as practical as it is beautiful – and, yes, we most definitely get what we pay for.
Take the beautiful 66″ Left-Pedestal Desk, above. The L shape would help open up your office and make it feel oh so handsome in the process.
The HON® 94000 Series desks offer a classic, traditional style with distinctive plinth bases, decorative moldings and antique brass-plated hardware.
Equally beautiful is the Mahogany Stack-On Storage Unit (below) – also from the HON® 94000 Series Laminate Office Furniture
Collection.
Click any of the links or images in this post to see the entire collection at Staples.com. This furniture would make the most impressive and functional office imaginable. That, and you’d be the envy of everyone you know.

I read an article a while back about how closely related happiness and health were. Somewhere between extoling the virtues of a happy marriage (which I completely agree with) and extoling the virtues of saving money (which I completely ignored), the author said something really interesting. He/She (I guess I ignored the name, too) said that we should fill our homes with things that make us happy.
I glanced around and realized that I’ve certainly done that. Animals are one of the rare things that I love as much as coffee, so there are animal-themed goodies here, there and everywhere. I’m also all kinds of wild about movies and the golden age of Hollywood, so there are Audrey Hepburn, James Dean and Marilyn Monroe Prints on the walls as well as I Love Lucy memorabilia.
Every member of my family loves books, so there are countless (filled) bookshelves as well. Agatha Christie even has her own shelf. She rubs that in Grisham’s face from time to time.
Basically, our home is filled with things that make us smile, so it’s a fun place to be. The same mindset should be adopted in one’s office, whether it’s a home office or not. Just because work has to be done within the walls shouldn’t mean that the office can’t have some life and personality. Bonus points if you cause it to mirror your own personality.
Putting a little creativity into your decorating will put a little more happiness into your world – even your work world. Take for example the print at the top of this post. It makes me smile every time I look at it. I’m flipping mad about bulldogs, anyway. In fact, we have an invisible one named Duchess. It’s the only kind of dog our cats will allow us to have. And even then she’s only allowed in certain rooms.
Click through the Bulldog Puppies to see other bulldog prints. There are countless other categories as well, of course. Just keep browsing until you see something that makes you smile. Then, find a spot for it in your office and make a date with future smiles!

If you’re as into ”getting personal” as I am, you’re going to love these products from Personilization Mall.com. Personilization …or getting personal… is their thang.
The “Shopping List” Ruled Notepads
, on the left, are pretty cute – they’d be a good way to make sure you get credit for the “dos” on your to do list. Then again, if they’re undone, you get the credit for that, too.

The Initial Impressions Silver Post-It Holder
is another one of the products they have geared toward offices and the freaks that inhabit them. It holds the post it notes you see in every store as well as the personalized ones on the site, itself. They’re pretty snazzy, I must say.

I have a complete obsession with pens, so I was an easy target for the Pinnacle Executive Roller-ball Pen
(<—). Not only is it a proverbial shiny object that we all love, whether we admit it or not, it’s classy. And we office dwellers are nothing if not classy, right?
Click through using any link or image in the post to see everything else they’d be willing to let you buy. Seriously, they have some really sweet things – from mousepads, desk sets, executive gifts, and coffee mugs to pillows, clothes, luggage, frames, and letter openers.
Next time you need a gift for a co-worker, this is the place to go.
