I’m a huge baseball fan. Even though I love the St. Louis Cardinals with every ounce of my being, I get a kick out of watching all the teams. One of my favorite teams to follow is actually one of Cardinal Nation’s sworn enemies – the Chicago Cubs. I hope this doesn’t cost me my lifetime Spitting, Spewing, Redbirds Fanatic Membership, but I find myself pulling for the Cubbies.
Come on, they’re up against the curse of an goat. And the goat apparently hates himself anything and everything that resembles a Cub. Every year, most baseball fans think, “Hmmm, this might be the year Chicago shakes the goat off their back…”
Then they implode.
The Cubs went out and got the crankiest manager they could find – I could see Lou Pinella screaming at Santa Claus, calling him things I can’t even say. Of course, admittedly, my own Tony Larussa would be trying to mess with the reindeer’s lineup… just because he could bygawd.
I don’t see any reason Dasher can’t lead off instead of Rudolph….What? Let him carry a flashlight!

Hang in there Cub fans. Show your Cubbie love in your office with the gorgeous aerial View of Wrigley Field, Chicago wall mural above. It’d look great in a dorm room too, wouldn’t it?
If it’s any consolation, you make baseball all the more entertaining. One day your team will hire the right manager again (I thought Dusty Baker was the man, personally.) and he’ll act like human goat repellent. He’ll surround himself with outstanding talent and he’ll lead them to the playoffs.
Then pray a fan doesn’t get in the way.
