My beloved Cardinals have made it far in the playoffs, and after a year of epic and creative injuries and set backs – that’s nothing short of phenomenal. Even when it looked like their season would end pre-playoffs, I was proud of my guys. They just grinded it out and it’s been one of the funnest baseball seasons I can remember. They play tonight, as a matter of fact, so if you’ll excuse me, I’ll finish this post and begin my pre-game routine of fixing game-time snacks and pacing frantically in circles while talking a mile a minute.

I, obviously, am an office supply freak extraordinaire. No denying it, no hiding it. Like my other addictions and infatuations (coffee, chocolate, the History Channel, catfish, cats..), it might as well be written across my forehead. I never realized, however, that I was raising another generation of freak-y. Until two days ago.

My youngest daughter, Stephany, decided that we HAD TO HAVE Japanese food for supper. Since we aren’t even remotely Japanese, we realized we’d have to go to one of our favorite Japanese restaurants. I told her that we had a few other stops to make first. Since she enjoys shopping nearly as much as her mother does, she was okay with that.

When we pulled into the Staples parking lot, she said, “I didn’t know we were coming to Staples!” As we were getting out of the car, she added, “I’d have dressed up for Staples.”

It was such a proud moment, I can’t even tell you. I knew we’d raised that girl right, but, I had no idea we’d also raised her to be an office supply freak as well. Hopefully she didn’t see the tear as I swiped it aside.

If, like me, you work from home with your cat (don’t even try telling them they aren’t part of head of the operation), you’ll love this cat bed for desks.  In the picture above, an Amazon user shares a picture of their BEAUTIFUL baby (Gypsy).  Like Gypsy, my indoor cat Alexa works full time overseeing my online (and offline for that matter) production.  Bless her, it’s just 7 am as I’m typing this and she’s already on duty – with one eye on me and one on the birds outside the window.  She can’t figure out which is more fascinating – birds and squirrels jockeying for position at bird feeders or her caffeine-fueled human trying to function while waiting  for the coffee pot to get through….

When Alexa’s feeling feisty, she likes to swat at my fingers as they dance all over the keyboard, or she’ll try to “catch” the words as they spill out across the screen. Love, love, love this chair! I can so see me sitting in the Arne Jacobsen style Egg Chair in Aniline Leather, Terra Cotta, coffee in hand, cat in lap, pointing to my husband and saying, “I’ll have Kentucky Fried Chicken for supper, a sundae from Dairy Queen for dessert, but first, do this paperwork for me, send these e-mails, take out the trash, and do the dishes.”

I can also see him raising one eyebrow and saying, “Have you lost your damn mind?” Whatever. Wouldn’t matter. My chair would still be sexier than his. Or anyone else’s for that matter.
