Office Equipment

If you spend as much time working online as I do, you know what it’s like to want the following:

  • More time
  • More hands

Unfortunately, I’ve given up on waking up to a 36 hour day and, frankly, I’m not sure I could pull off a 4 hand look, try as I might.  So, there you have it.  I’ve accepted the fact that I have only 24 hours and 2 hands to work with.

A well-constructed daily planner and to do lists placed where I can see them gets around the time issue nicely.  And extremely innovative and brilliant office technology such as the AT&T TL7610 DECT 6.0 Digital Cordless Headset (Silver/Black) make my two hands seem like 4.  Without the stares.  I was recently sent one of these fantastic headsets to review and I totally give it two thumbs up (or would that be 4?).

AT&T Cordless Headset DECT 6.0 Digital (TL7610) Features:

  • Unsurpassed range
  • DECT 6.0 digital technology
  • Wirelessly pair to any 2008 AT&T DECT 6.0 cordless phone
  • Headset volume control
  • Up to 500 feet of range
  • Auto off
  • Conference capability with up to 2 headsets
  • Dual color lighted in-use indicator
  • Headset volume control
  • Lightweight and comfortable design
  • Multiple connection options: handset port and parallel PSTN
  • Multiple wearing styles: over the ear, over the head or behind the neck style
  • Mute
  • One-button answer
  • Optional handset lifter (AT&T TL7000 sold separately)
  • Optional remote dial pad works with PSTN connection mode only (AT&T TL7601 sold separately)
  • Sound level protection
  • Works with corded or cordless 1-line and 2-line phones
  • Works with multi-line business systems
  • Silver

The AT&T TL7610 DECT 6.0 Digital Cordless Headset (Silver/Black) isn’t just perfect, it’s essential.

Here’s why:

  1. No more pain in the neck. If you’ve ever done the ridiculous phone balance (where you try to hold it between your ear and shoulder) while keeping your hands free as you talk on the phone – you know the pain and strain that you feel in your neck.  The pain doesn’t go away, sometimes, for days.  A cordless headset frees you from the pain as it frees your hands from the phone.
  2. No more embarrassing drops. It’s just not cool to drop someone on the floor then follow it up with an, “Uh oh, I dropped you! (nervous laughter) What were you saying???”
  3. Your hands are free, free, free. As you’re listening to the person on the other end of the phone, your hands are free to type, write, search, drink coffee, file your nails, play Farmville (don’t judge me), or file papers.  Multi-tasking is a given today – not an option.
  4. You’ll look so darned tech-y. That counts for something, right?

The gorgeous, sleek AT&T TL7610 DECT 6.0 Digital Cordless Headset (Silver/Black) should absolutely be the next thing you buy for your office.  You’ll want to get one for the home as well – cooking is so much easier to do with two free hands.

This particular cordless headset is as clear and perfect as you could ever hope for.  It sounds just like a regular phone conversation – just without the neck strain or tied-up hands.  What’s more, this headset features an unsurpassed range of up to 500 feet – so if you like to walk while you talk (my husband’s the expert at that), feel free to be free!  The AT&T TL7610 Digital Cordless Headset is compatible with any phone you can think of.  The TL7610’s base doubles as its charger, which I love.  The last thing I need is another charger to chase around the house.

This is an extremely comfortable and very easy to use cordless headset.  The instructions and guide are 100 percent clear and easy to follow.  It’s a personal opinion, but I think AT&T always excels at keeping things very clear and uncomplicated.  Man, I love them for that.

At less than $200, the AT&T TL7610 is priced lower than most of its competitors.  With above-average sound quality and range, it is a must-have for anyone who uses the phone for more than just a few minutes a day.  I think that’s pretty much everyone!

The links I’ve included in this post point to Amazon, where the AT&T TL7610 is just $169 – unheard of!

Mirror of Emotions

Okay. Hold onto something. Philips is working on an unbelievably cool gadget they’re calling the “Rationalizer”, a device that’s basically a “mirror for your emotions”. It’s a mood ring gone high tech – very high tech.

Here’s the rundown: The employee wears an Emobracelet on their wrist which measures the “arousal component of the user’s emotion through a galvanic skin response sensor”.

I told you to hang onto something.

This EmoBracelet is synced (wirelessly) with the EmoBowl, the beautiful bowl you see in the picture above, with lighted patterns to show a user’s emotional readout. The range is a soft yellow, orange, or deep red.

When the bracelet wearer sees that the bowl is flashing red, it serves as an alert. Someone needs to chill the heck out! Or, to be more precise, the individual should take a break – maybe walk around for 10 minutes, play solitaire, or simply take a couple of deep breaths. The idea is for them to catch themselves before they make a decision that might be the result of emotions rather than the result of common sense. Check themselves before they wreck themselves.

Oh the ramifications! This is, honestly, a brilliant concept. The Mirror of Emotions is for Investors, but just imagine if everyone in your office were plugged up to one?

Let the games begin!

Staples is Offering Up the Savings

by Joi on February 28, 2009

Staples Vertical File Cabinet

We’re all looking for ways to save money, cut corners, and stretch our dollar – all without compromising our standard of living (or at least as little compromising as possible!).  The experts tell us time and time again to watch for sales.  They say to buy what we need when it’s at the best possible price.

Sounds logical, no?

That’s why I always watch the circulars and my favorite stores’ websites.  This way I can know immediately when they want to make me a deal I can’t refuse.

Staples wants to play the savings game beautifully this week and are offering up great deals on all things tech.

Their 40 Tech Deals under $100 Event and Big Printing Event are loaded with everything you’re looking for – short of a Caramel Latte topped off with caramel and a fat dollop of whipped topping and a fat chocolaty Walnut Brownie. Someone woke up with her sweet tooth locked and loaded.

The deals aren’t just tech-ish, though.

You’ll find lots of savings on standard office supplies, office furniture, and office equipment. For example, the 2-Drawer 25 inch Staples Vertical File Cabinet pictured here is on sale, for a savings of $10.

That $10 could buy a Caramel Latte and 2 Walnut Brownies. I apologize. I’m out of control. (I’m also headed to the kitchen. he he he)

This Week Only:
40 Tech Deals under $100 at Staples®! Save on hard drives, printers, memory cards, mice and more. Ends 3/7.

One Day Only:

Change, change, change.  It’s the buzz word of the moment and the mindset of our generation.  Granted, there are some things that are changing that aren’t necessarily for the better – but from where I sit, most of the changes are positive.

One very positive change is the move toward wasting less, using less, and being smart about how we go about our daily lives.  You know, the change that dresses in green and demands that we all do our part to keep our world beautiful for all of its occupants – the ones with skin, fur, feathers, fins, or all of the above.  But enough about my inlaws*.

ipaperlessoffice.com is a website I think you’re going to love.

The Green Office

Founded in 2005, TheGreenOffice.com is an online retailer that offers a huge selection of office products focused on green alternatives and sustainability. They were the first online retailer to have this vision and were, actually, one of the leaders of the online push for greenery.

With all due respect to Kermit, they show that, as a matter of fact, it is easy being green. What’s more, it’s downright sexy cool.

From The Green Office.com:

Office products. Each of the 40,000 products in our catalog are competitively priced and ranked by “greenness” using our Green Screen system according to recycled content, compostability, chemical reduction, and third party certification. We have done extensive research and product evaluations to determine if a product is Dark Green, Green, or Conventional to give our customers the freedom to compare products and the confidence to shop quickly to balance sustainability, quality, and cost.

All our products are shipped using our next-day carbon-neutral shipping service, free with a purchase of $49 or more. We use industry-leading shipping companies like UPS and DHL to ensure speedy delivery. Then, as part of our commitment to sustainable business practices, we offset (or neutralize) all of the carbon emissions associated with shipping your order from our warehouse to your doorstep.

On The Green Office.com, you can find just about anything you could hope for including: mugs, coffee filters, lamps (such as the Madison Desk Lamp above), cards, stationery, post it notes (whoot whoot), picture frames, cups, snack foods, utensils, bookcases, bathroom supplies, fax machines etc… And I do mean etc. There are so many other things to choose from. I got distracted by my cat or I’d keep listing. She’s eyeing my Starbucks cup and I don’t trust her. I know that look. I taught her that look.

Sandusky Wall Mount Laptop Security Cabinet
The Sandusky Wall Mount Laptop Security Cabinet
from Staples is just what you need to keep your laptop safe and secure. This small, yet fiercely strong, wall cabinet stores away laptop computers when they aren’t in use to prevent theft while allowing for stand-up workstation use.

Features:

  • Charcoal finish 20 gauge welded steel construction
  • Electric keypad lock eliminates need for keys
  • Cabinet dimensions: 15 3/4″H x 19 3/4″W x 4 3/4″D
  • Computer platform measures 16 2/3′W x 12 1/4″D and is cushioned to protect laptops
  • Cabinet includes two 1 1/2″ diameter cable management openings large enough for a power cord to allow for charging when the laptop is secured
  • Cabinet’s interior measures 3″D when closed
  • Electronic coded lock uses 4 AA batteries and features a programmable administrative and user password
  • Platform straps keep laptop securely in place when closed
  • Keypad has two emergency back-up options: An included external power source that plugs into the keypad and a key if the code is forgotten

Extra security measures just make a lot of sense. People are getting ridiculously desperate (and bold) with the economy the way it is. Hopefully it’ll swing the other way when things change, but until then, let’s keep our stuff tucked away safe and sound.

HP Officejet Pro L7680 Color Flatbed All-in-OneEven without a special deal going on, this HP Officejet Pro L7680 Color Flatbed All-in-One is ridiculously sweet. It prints, copies, scans, faxes, and (let’s be honest) looks high falutin while getting its busy on.

Yeah, I respect that.

Something else I respect is a killer deal and Staples has one going on right now – but you’ll have to hurry like never before.  While supplies last, when you purchase a HP Officejet Pro L7680 Color Flatbed All-in-One, you get a Free HP 5610 color all-in-one (an $80 value!).  If you have a young person heading off to college (or just their room, if you’re lucky enough to keep them nearby), you could treat yourself AND them at once.

Features:

  1. Prints: Up to 35 ppm black, 34 ppm color
  2. Copies: Up to 35 cpm black, 34 cpm color
  3. Scans: Up to 2400 x 4800-dpi resolution
  4. Faxes: Up to 33.6Kbps
  5. Duplexing (2-sided printing); which uses 50% less paper
  6. Network ready
  7. 50-sheet automatic document feeder
  8. Card slots included, PictBridge compatible
  9. 2.4″ color graphics display
  10. Looks techlicious

Click one of the links and check this great deal out while supplies last.  It’s an online offer only, so shake a leg!

If you spend as much time at a desk as I do (at least 6 hours a day), you’re all too familiar with the backaches, the muscle tension, the aches, the pains, etc. Research has shown that long hours at the desk can cause a host of problems: lower back pain, fatigue, headaches, a loss of flexibility, and even lead to poor posture. I add to my own woes by having a weird tendency to sit on at least one leg most of the time. I’ve been known to pull them both up into the chair with me. A quick self check just discovered that I’m doing it now, actually.

Certified personal trainer and founder of “Get Fit in 6″ suggests that those of us who are in this particular boat look into purchasing a “foam roller” and/or a Medicine Ball.

The image at the top of the post is a foam roller. Target sells this particular one. You can click HERE to find it online, but if you have a Target near you, I’m pretty sure they’d have it in stock.

I’ve never tried one of these foam rollers, but I HAVE used a Medicine Ball before, though, and recommend them highly. They are a back’s best friend because they provide you with a gentle but oh so effective stretch.

I’ve also treated my feet to smaller medicine balls before after a long day at the mall. Shopping can be pretty draining on a body, too. Rubbing the soles of your feet over the balls gives them a great little massage that makes them happy campers again.

When you get a chance, you might want to check out a Medicine Ball for yourself. They’re pretty sweet.

Ever Seen a $150 Stapler?

by Joi on March 4, 2008

Swarovski Crystal Stapler

You can now say you’ve seen what a $150.00 stapler looks like. $156.00 to be exact – and that’s on sale, thank you very much. This high falutin stapler is normally priced at $195.

The Swarovski Crystal Stapler is a beauty, I have to hand it to her. All decked out in her crystal bling, she’s fine and apparently knows it. The web site says, “This Swarovski Crystal covered stapler will make everyone in the office jealous.” and I can’t argue with that.
