I’m wild about the Safco 35″ Wide Fixed Height Workstation, Cherry Shelves/Black Frame. Each shown here. I love black computer furniture (as well as office furniture) and cherry wood’s definitely one of my favorite types of wood. The cherry shelves and black frame combine for a knock out computer desk that’s about as handsome as it could possibly be.

The only way I can think it could get any hotter would be if it had a cup of coffee and almond Snickers bar on top. Ooooh, then it’d be completely irresistible.

Wow, this is one gorgeous desk. I suppose The Captain’s Davenport Desk as appropriate for the office as it is the home office, but I’m not sure anyone would want it out of their sight.  I think I’d put it in my living room and let everyone walk around it…. not touch it, mind you…. just walk around it.

It may not be overly tall but the Sauder Edge Water Computer Desk in Estate Black certainly has the dark and handsome on lock.  I’ve always been big on oak, maple, and cherry – so much so that’d I often refuse to look at anything else.  But my daughter and her boyfriend recently bought a huge black computer desk and I fall a little bit further in love with it each time I see it.  It actually looks a lot like the beauty above.

I, obviously, am an office supply freak extraordinaire. No denying it, no hiding it. Like my other addictions and infatuations (coffee, chocolate, the History Channel, catfish, cats..), it might as well be written across my forehead. I never realized, however, that I was raising another generation of freak-y. Until two days ago.

My youngest daughter, Stephany, decided that we HAD TO HAVE Japanese food for supper. Since we aren’t even remotely Japanese, we realized we’d have to go to one of our favorite Japanese restaurants. I told her that we had a few other stops to make first. Since she enjoys shopping nearly as much as her mother does, she was okay with that.

When we pulled into the Staples parking lot, she said, “I didn’t know we were coming to Staples!” As we were getting out of the car, she added, “I’d have dressed up for Staples.”

It was such a proud moment, I can’t even tell you. I knew we’d raised that girl right, but, I had no idea we’d also raised her to be an office supply freak as well. Hopefully she didn’t see the tear as I swiped it aside.

The Refined Feline Kitt-in Box Cat Bed in Cherry

If, like me, you work from home with your cat (don’t even try telling them they aren’t part of head of the operation), you’ll love this cat bed for desks.  In the picture above, an Amazon user shares a picture of their BEAUTIFUL baby (Gypsy).  Like Gypsy, my indoor cat Alexa works full time overseeing my online (and offline for that matter) production.  Bless her, it’s just 7 am as I’m typing this and she’s already on duty – with one eye on me and one on the birds outside the window.  She can’t figure out which is more fascinating – birds and squirrels jockeying for position at bird feeders or her caffeine-fueled human trying to function while waiting  for the coffee pot to get through….

When Alexa’s feeling feisty, she likes to swat at my fingers as they dance all over the keyboard, or she’ll try to “catch” the words as they spill out across the screen. My human mind thinks, “Oh, how precious, my kitty cat’s playing..” while her superior mind no doubt thinks, “Get rid of this exclamation point.. change great to wonderful (why does the coffee pit use the word great so often?)… does she seriously think you spell it like that.. What’s THAT supposed to even mean…”

It’s probably great that I can’t hear what my editor’s really thinking.

The only problem about my furry little co-worker and her love for being near me as I work is that… well…. she’s not the thinnest of cats.  When she sits on the desk, the desk all but fails to exist.  The The Refined Feline Kitt-in Box Cat Bed in Cherry could allow my chubby baby to stay right beside me, while allowing me to also use the desk. This elegant and beautiful Signature Home Monterey Writing Desk – Antique Cherry is almost too pretty to actually use!

For those of us are blissfully traditional, writing desks have a lot of allure. I love the idea of sitting at a writing desk, sipping my coffee as I iron out my to do list or write another chapter of a romantic historical novel.
