Salad Chill and Go
Hopefully, “Eat more healthy foods” had top billing on your list of Resolutions. That, and possibly the E word…
I’m convinced that lunch time is our dieting downfall. We usually manage a pretty good breakfast, and sometimes even drink juice with it. (In addition to coffee, of course.) And often, supper is healthy enough, complete with a variety of vegetables. But, if we were to be honest, our lunches are far too often far too fattening - and nothing even close to healthy.
You could easily leave the house with the best of intentions - planning to grab a salad out instead of a burger and fries. But…
- A. Salads are, surprisingly enough, pretty expensive - even in fast food places.
- B. The willpower that was so strong when you started outwill bottom out when you see that burger and fries on the menu, or worse yet, if you step inside and smell them!
Solution? Make your own awesome salad at home and take some with you for lunch. The Salad Chill & Go above is available at Improvements Catalog.com.
From the website:
No one enjoys soggy salad, so fill the Chill & Go™ with your fresh garden ingredients, and fill the separate in-lid container with up to 6 tbsps. of your favorite dressing. Double-wall insulation keeps it cold for up to four hours. When noontime comes, just twist the lid off, pour your salad onto your plate, then unscrew the lid’s leakproof inner cup and pour the dressing over the crispy salad!
Check it out! You’ll find the little lovelies under Indoors>> Kitchen >> Cooking Tools>> Measuring/Hotpads/Utensils.
Ingenius!

Apple’s iBook Makes For A Great Mobile Office
Now I realize that if you’re not an Apple fan there’s no way in heck I’m going to convince you via a single blog post that the iBook makes a great centerpiece for your mobile office – but that won’t stop me from trying! After all, at least two of us Office Freaks are Mac evangelists, so you’d better get used to hearing the good word
Seriously though, I’ve been using Apple’s low-cost and lovable iBook as my main computer for the last five years, and even though my particular model is getting a bit long-in-the-tooth (12″ screen, 466Mhz, 10Gb HD,) it still blazes along under OSX, and is good for all but the most demanding photoshop work…hence, it makes a great mobile office computer.
One of the great benefits of an Apple laptop is it’s famous ease-of-use, and plug & play compatibility. While this may not be a big selling point to the mega-geeks out there, for the average home business user it can mean the difference between costly visits to your computer tech, or just a cheap and easy fix you can do at home.
And with iWork applications installed, and Apple’s newer, larger-screen offerings, the iBook can really accomplish anything you’d need it to, and with style, grace, and speed (that’s right, there’s a Unix kernel under that hood…Vroom!) Of course that also means that if you are an uber-geek, you just might find command-line love under that gorgeous OSX interface.
So go ahead and give Apple a chance…I dare you…you won’t be unsatisfied!

PocketProjector – It Fits In The Palm Of Your Hand
I stumbled across an ad for this wondrous little gadget in the December edition of Wired Magazine, and immediately thought of Office Freaks. I mean, seriously…is that thing tiny or what? Apparently this diminutive projector weighs around a pound and runs on a battery, making it highly portable indeed. It’s made my Mitsubishi, and according to their website the PocketProjector has some fairly diverse uses beyond the standard business presentations–
Suggested Applications for the Mitsubishi Pocket LED DLP Projector:
Digital camera display magnification
Retail signage for show window messaging at night
Government or military on-site training
Camping video; Mobile video in cars, trucks or vans
Theater or club signage displays
Gaming video
Gaming video? That one really caught my eye…
Wall-sized round of Halo anyone?

Holy MacGyvers! It’s The Swiss Army 1GB USB Flash Drive!
My co-freak Mike was hecka’ impressed with the Swiss Army Pen I wrote about yesterday, so just wait until he gets a load of this little high-tech wonder. No, you’re not seeing things, and this definitely isn’t your father’s Swiss Army knife…it’s the Swissbit 1GB USB Flash Drive! Incredible…
That’s right, it’s the world’s first Swiss Army Knife that comes loaded with a gigabyte of USB Memory. Talk about a company keeping up with the times
Good job Swissbit! And it doesn’t stop there: the Swiss Army USB Flash Drive comes with the all the usual suspects, including a stainless steel knife, those itty-bitty scissors you’ve come to love, a file, and a screw driver.
And just in case you’re really tight for space (or perhaps you’re taking a flight within, to, or from The States) the USB memory module is fully detachable.
A must-have for the geek, super-spy, or just plain geeky super-spy on your Christmas list.

Let me get this straight, with this ingenius notebook computer, the Toshiba Satellite R15-S829 Notebook PC, I could take notes and answer e-mail without a Keyboard?

It Slices, It Dices – It’s The Swiss Army Pen!
Looking for the perfect gift for that gadget-hound on your Christmas list? Believe it or not, there’s a Swiss Army Pen, and it’s fashioned after a GPS Swiss Army rifle cartridge…too cool!
This crazy contraption sports an authentic Swiss Army multi-tool from Victorinox, a flashlight with batteries that last for over 12-hours of continual use, a letter opener, nail file and scissors.
Coolest of all (Chrispian’s gonna’ like this,) the Swiss Army Pen uses an ink cartridge manufactured by Fisher Space Pen, so it can write underwater, at any angle (even upside down) and in hot and cold temperature conditions (great for taking that hot snow-bunny’s digits, eh?)
To top it off, the Swiss Army Pen comes with a 2-year warranty…just in case it peters out on your next deep-sea mission
